NHIA Releases First Practice Standard for Mechanical Pump Use in the Home – Opens Comment Period

October 3, 2023

NHIA has released a draft practice standard that describes situations that may require the use of electronic mechanical pumps to minimize adverse reactions and promote adherence to infusion therapies administered in the home. NHIA practice standards represent a consensus of professional judgment, expert opinion, and documented evidence and are meant to provide guidance and direction to NHIA members and other audiences who affect the home infusion industry and the patients served.

NHIA is requesting that public stakeholders review and provide feedback on the draft practice standard. Comments on proposed practice standards play a key role in the standards development process. The public comment period opens Wednesday, October 4, 2023 and closes Friday, November 3, 2023.

The target audience for this mechanical pump selection standard includes clinicians, regulatory agencies, reimbursement professionals, and industry stakeholders.

Please submit all comments to standards@nhia.org.
