NHIA Member Spotlight

NHIA members are involved in all aspects of the home and alternate site infusion industry, taking on a wide array of roles, but the bond that ties them together is their dedication to ensuring that patients receive high-quality care in the setting they most prefer, enabling them to lead healthy, independent lives. We are excited for you to get to know who our members are, what they do to support this incredible industry, and what it is like working in home infusion.

Logan Davis

2023 Fellow National Home Infusion Association—Logan Davis is Vice President of Trade for Vital Care Infusion Services, a national infusion pharmacy services franchise organization. As a pharmacist and business development specialist, Logan utilizes his experience and expertise to create and execute innovative pharmacy business development strategies and to promote patient access to infused and provider-administered injectable therapies. He recently served as Chair of the NHIA Board of Directors.

How did you first get into the home infusion industry?

I got into the infusion industry as a summer intern during pharmacy school, and was fortunate to jump right into home infusion pharmacy practice upon graduation in 2008. I was on the home infusion operations team at Vital Care of Meridian, and after several years moved over to the Vital Care corporate team in a department leadership role.

How has the home infusion industry changed since you first started?

It has been interesting to see the move by home infusion providers into specialty pharmacy, then specialty pharmacies into home infusion, and now both opening ambulatory infusion centers.

What is one thing you would change about the current state of home infusion? Why?

The biggest thing missing from home infusion is a home infusion services benefit for Medicare beneficiaries needing home IV antibiotics. These patients are most often in the most dire need of access to home infusion services, yet have the most limited access due to Medicare’s lack of coverage. If I could waive a magic wand, I would create a Medicare home infusion services benefit for IV antibiotics covered under Part D.

What kind of an impact do you hope to have on the home infusion industry?

I have worn a lot of hats over the years and hope to be remembered for making home infusion therapy more available and accessible by patients who need these services.

In what ways have the pioneers of home infusion strengthened the industry in your perspective and why?

I have been fortunate to work alongside many pioneers of the industry, both around NHIA and at Vital Care over the years. Their perseverance, grit, and problem-solving abilities are inspiring to me and help motivate me to keep pressing for solutions.

How has NHIA guided your path to success?

I got involved with NHIA early in my career and have been surrounded by so many home infusion professionals that I have learned from over the years. The connections I have made and relationships I have built through NHIA have been invaluable to me as I have navigated my career in home infusion.

What does being recognized as an NHIA Fellow mean to you?

I am excited and humbled to be known as an NHIA Fellow alongside such an impressive group of infusion industry leaders. Thank you IMS for supporting this great program!

What advice would you give to yourself at age 18?

Take time for fun experiences with friends and family.

If you had a superpower, what would you want it to be?

See the future!

If you weren't in the home infusion industry, what would you be doing?

Something related to business. I enjoy sizing up business opportunities, real estate, etc.., and love being part of a team that takes a vision and makes it a reality. Business is my hobby!
