Research Opportunities

NHIA and the National Home Infusion Foundation (NHIF) are committed to advancing evidence-based research that strengthens home and alternate site infusion. We actively support independent researchers—including clinicians, pharmacists, nurses, administrators, and students—by identifying priority research areas, offering practical tools, and creating meaningful opportunities to share and publish findings.

This page brings together suggested research topics, publication opportunities, and resources to help you move from idea to impact.

Suggested Research Topics

To guide valuable and relevant research, NHIF has identified priority clinical and non-clinical research topics reflecting real-world challenges and opportunities in home and alternate site infusion. These suggested topics help align research efforts with areas of greatest need across patient care, operations, safety, outcomes, and performance improvement.

Research areas include (but are not limited to):

  • Clinical practice and patient outcomes
  • Nursing, pharmacy, and sterile compounding
  • Performance improvement and quality initiatives
  • Transitions of care and access to therapy
  • Revenue cycle and reimbursement
  • Patient-centered care, technology, and innovation
  • Case studies and real-world problem solving
  • Researchers are encouraged to use these topics as inspiration—not limitation—for study design and investigation.

Opportunities for Publication & Recognition

NHIA and NHIF offer multiple pathways to share your research with the home infusion community.

Infusion Journal is the leading peer-reviewed publication dedicated to home and alternate site infusion. The journal welcomes original, unpublished manuscripts—including clinical studies, operational research, performance improvement projects, and case reports—that advance practice and patient care.
