Suggested Research Focus Areas

NHIF encourages research that answers patient-centered questions or addresses operational challenges, including:

  • Studies examining authorization and billing procedures to establish benchmarks such as days to payment and payment accuracy
  • Retrospective reviews of patient out-of-pocket costs by therapy class or payer type, and how these costs affect access to care
  • Research evaluating social, cultural, and economic diversity within the home infusion patient population and how these factors influence outcomes
  • Assessments of compliance costs associated with sterile compounding standards, including hazardous environments
  • Interventions designed to improve medication safety, efficacy, or establish best practices
