TRICARE Meets with Home Infusion Therapy Providers
July 18, 2008
Provider meeting organized through NHIA
The National Home Infusion Association has been in contact with the Department of Defense about a number of issues on the effectiveness and efficiencies of coverage for home and alternate-site infusion therapies by TRICARE. TRICARE is the military’s health care program that covers care outside of military facilities when needed by members of and retirees from the uniformed services, their families and survivors.
As a result of NHIA activities, the department’s TRICARE Management Activity (TMA) group which administers the program invited NHIA to reach out to infusion providers for an industry meeting at TMA’s Aurora, Colorado headquarters. At this meeting conducted in June, NHIA presented a list of different issues and recommendations for solutions to the TMA administrators. Participating were nearly one dozen NHIA infusion provider member companies operating nationally, regionally and locally (Colorado area) that well reflected the alternate-site infusion provider community as a whole.
TMA has expressed its appreciation and thanks to NHIA for organizing the provider participation and presentation of the issues. NHIA is following up with TMA on next steps. You may contact NHIA’s Bruce E Rodman, Vice President Health Information Policy, for more information at Bruce.Rodman@sbcglobal.net or 847-362-2017.
