FIRST IN PULSE: Infusion therapy lobbies for legislative funding patch.

January 5, 2018

The National Home Infusion Association wants Congressional leaders to pass a pair of bills that would ensure ongoing Medicare reimbursement for home infusion therapy. Why it's necessary: the patch would cover a two-year gap period in coverage stemming from a loophole of the 21st Century Cures Act, the association writes to House and Senate leaders. Read the letter.

"Home infusion is less costly than care provided in a hospital or nursing home, improves the patient's quality of life, and is most often a physician's preferred site of care," a NHIA spokesperson told PULSE, defending the need for a reimbursement patch.
